Dave DeBruyne

It is with the utmost sadness that we report the unexpected passing of our league President, Dave DeBruyne. Dave has been instrumental in the financial  steadying and smooth running of the GVDA in the past two decades. He has also taken a key role in the revival of the Rochester Open where he has been DJ, announcer and front of house for both the happier payouts desk and the less happy bad-beats-stories desk with his customary cool head and friendly smile. We will miss him sorely and know that we send the love, support and prayers of our members to Amy and Alex and to all his family and friends.

Calling hours are on August 19th from 3pm - 7pm at Miller Funeral Home in Henrietta. Please note that due to COVID-19 masks and social distancing are required and there is a capacity limit which includes family members. Therefore the family is scheduling in half hour increments starting at 3pm. GVDA Fall Season and the 2020 Rochester Open

Hi All -

Fall 2020 Season:  

It is with much regret that the GVDA Board has decided to cancel the 2020 Fall season. With the current SLA (state liquor authority) restrictions, others that are part of phase 4 and the fact that a couple of the participating bars have no reopened they concluded it would be best to cancel the season. This also means the upcoming sign-up tournament is also canceled.

Here are the main reasons:

* SLA says no bar games allowed aka darts, pool, cornhole etc.
* Bars are at only 50% capacity
* New requirement that people must sit and eat and not mingle

Rochester Open

It was also decided, for the same reasons noted above, that we will be canceling the Rochester Open scheduled for October 2020. We are looking at dates in 2021 and will post the new date once we have it.

These are abnormal times. We are all hoping it gets back to normal at some point. Until then please be safe, wear a mask and wash your hands.

WINTER SEASON UPDATE

Due to the continued closures of bars and taverns the board has decided to cancel the remaining matches in the Winter season. Current standings for the season will be entered as the final standings.

We are hoping to have a shortened summer season. A decision will be made at the June board meeting.

We have some updates to pass along:

1. The Spring blind draw scheduled for 4/28 is cancelled
2. We are still hoping to finish the winter season. A final decision will be made in the coming weeks.
3. The Rochester Open has been rescheduled to October 9th and 10th at Sunset

WINTER SEASON SUSPENDED

Due to the Coronavirus, NYS has mandated all bars and restaurants close indefinitely between 8 and 9 pm tonight (March 16th). As a result, the GVDA is suspending all league play until further notice. Stay tuned for information on how or if the winter season will be completed.

If the establishment you play in offers takeout, that will still be available so we encourage all members to take advantage and support them as much as you can!

NOTE NEW START TIME FOR DIVISIONS A&B

The GVDA Winter season will start January 14th. The schedule has been posted on the website.

I know this is redundant but it's important!

PLEASE NOTE:  The start time for divisions A&B HAS BEEN MOVED TO 7PM! In response to your many requests this was put to a Captain's vote. 75% of your team captains voted in favor of the change. The league format remains the same meaning that teams can start AND end their nights with 2 players.  THERE IS NO CHANGE IN THE METRO DIVISION START TIME! Metro matches will still start at 7:30 PM. As always, teams may adjust the start time and match sequence to allow for any conflicts that may arise. This requires approval of BOTH teams. Please communicate with each other to arrange schedule or match sequence changes. SHOOT WELL !!!

Hello GVDA Captains The GVDA winter season will start January 14th. Here are the start times for each division : Division B ---- 7:00 pm start time (This is a CHANGE per Captains vote - 75% in favor) Division A ---- 7:00 pm start time (This is a CHANGE per Captains vote - 75% in favor) Metro ---------- 7:30 pm start time (No change) As always, teams may communicate with each other to reschedule matches.... (Both teams must be in agreement) SHOOT WELL !!! :>)
