LOCAL ADO QUALIFIER FOR US TEAM
Thursday, July 13, 2017
DARTS ON TV IN THE US!
The GVDA has a favor to ask. Part of the GVDA mission is to promote the sport of darts. In addition to our local league play and running the annual Rochester Open many of our members travel to out of town tournaments. Through this the GVDA has earned the privilege to call friends many players in the US, Canada and a few abroad who also play darts in leagues and competitively at tournaments. Beginning tonight into tomorrow morning is an important broadcast of a Major US tournament from Las Vegas. This is a huge step in growing the sport in North America and is the first time in a very long time that the PDC will be here playing against North American players. Darts is rarely televised in the US but It will be broadcast on FOX SPORTS 1 channel 400 on Spectrum Cable in upstate NY. We need to show that dart telecasts are worth the time, effort and expense for broadcasters and advertisers. What we need from our GVDA friends is for everyone to record, watch or just leave the cable box on to get the ratings up for this event. There are multiple broadcasts. Here are the days and times.
Friday ~ 12:30 am - 2:30 am
Saturday ~ 12:00 am - 2:00 am
Sunday ~ 12:00 am - 2:00 am and 10:30 pm - 12:30 am
Monday ~ 7:30 am - 9:30 am
Thanks

ADO QUALIFIER RESULTS
The local ADO qualifier for the 501 Championship and East/West All stars was held Sunday at Sunset Lanes. Thank you to the 8 darters that came out to play. Congratulations to Michael "Data" Nguyen on his first place finish and runner-up Dale LaFrance. They will both now go on to represent the GVDA at the Regional in Syracuse on June 10th. I also need to clarify a miscommunication on my part. At the beginning of the day I indicated that we would be sending one qualifier from the event. I believe I also said that to a player later in the day. This was incorrect and an absolute brain dart on my part. In light of the success of the 50/50 drawings held during the 2017 Rochester Open to support the league ADO effort, the GVDA board elected in the May meeting to qualify 2 people from the free qualifiers conducted by the league for the remainder of the year. This fact was pointed out to me by the other board members in attendance late in the day. I tried to explain the error when announcing the days results but I'm not sure I was successful in explaining my error. I apologize for the conflicting information and any confusion that I caused. Good luck to Data and Dale on June 10th!

The schedule on the website will be updated to reflect this change. Playoffs will now begin on 4/25 and will consist of the top 4 teams.

Rule Review - Sportsmanship / protest
Why does he keep yelling my name while I'm at the line throwing ?
His foot is over the line !!!!!!
These are all things that we have had to deal with over the years of throwing darts .
The proper way to handle these things and other items is to have the captains discuss the issue and try to get it resolved .
If the captains can not work it out then call the hotline - 585 - 739 - 3278
If still not able to get resolved then follow protest procedures
8. Protest procedures
A. General
1) Protests must be called in to the hotline within 24 hours of the incident. Briefly describe the situation, the infraction(s) and the person(s) involved.
2) A letter must follow giving details. The letter, addressed to the GVDA PO Box or email box, must be postmarked/time stamped no later than 7 days after the date of the protested incident.
A. Sportsmanship
1) Good sportsmanship shall prevail at all GVDA activities. The GVDA may expel, suspend, or place on probation any member who creates discord, behaves in a belligerent or defamatory manner or engages in conduct prejudicial to the welfare and image of the GVDA and the sport of darts.
2) Attempts to distract a player at the hockey are prohibited.
3) Opposing team members must stand at least 2 feet behind a player at the hockey.
4) Captains must remove any distractions and remedy any problems of which they are advised as fully as possible. Captains will be held responsible for the conduct of their team members.
