Annual Sign-up news:

The GVDA Annual/Winter Season Sign-up and Blind Draw is Tuesday January 3, 2023 at Sunset Lanes. Sign-up for both the Winter Season and Blind Draw starts at 6:45 pm.

Annual dues are $30. Winter season tavern fee is $60. If you do not have a team and wish to be a general member the fee is $30 - this makes you eligible to play in the sign-up tournaments and all the ADO qualifiers. We do have people looking for teams!!!!

We will be using dart Connect for Metro and A divisions for the Winter Season - cost is $20 per team due at sign-up.

Sign-up tournament will be blind draw and is $5 to enter. Double elimination; 100% payout plus $240 added into the prize pot. Check into DC here: checkin.dartconnect.com

Winter season will start on 1/17/23

Congratulations to the Playoff Champions from last night's Fall Season Finals:

Next week is the annual Holiday Blind Draw, open to all dart players. Entry fee is $10 ($5 to GVDA members, which will be sponsor-matched). There will also be a further $240 added to the pot. We will be holding a 50/50 and other festivities. Come along and bring your friends! Blind Draw signup opens at 7pm and will close at 7:30pm.

We will be using DartConnect as usual. TIP: You can save yourself some time during registration by checking in closer to the day of the event.

GVDA 2023 - Events and Board Nominations

It's that time of year again!

The 2023 GVDA calendar may not make the finest Christmas Gift but it could potentially cover up a hole in a closet wall near you.

The AGM and Winter season signup will be on January 3rd at Sunset Lanes. We are seeking nominations for Board members. Have ideas for improving the league? Want to make a difference in helping the league succeed? Become a Board member!

The term is 2 years in length. Can't commit to monthly meetings? Become a volunteer member! Let us know of your interest in helping out. Nominations are due by 12/31 and forms are available on the GVDA website under the resources tab.

Very sad news that one of the originals has passed away. She was the first of the women to sign up for The GVDA, a Rochester Champion and a US national team representative.

Our thoughts are with all her family and friends as we celebrate the life and memories so many of us have of the self-proclaimed dart bitch!

The Fall mid-season Blind Draw is coming up on Tuesday October 25th at Sunset Lanes. Open to all current GVDA members only - $5 entry with 100% payback plus $120 added in. If attending please sign into DC:  https://checkin.dartconnect.com/

November 5th:    Local Qualifier for the ADO 501and Cricket Singles at Sunset Lanes. 501 will start at noon and cricket at 5 pm. Open and FREE to all current GVDA players.

November 26th:    ADO 501 and Cricket Regional tournaments at Sunset Lanes. 501 starts at noon and cricket at 5 pm. Open to all ADO members-$60 entry fee.

 1. Rules of conduct

A. Sportsmanship
1) Good sportsmanship shall prevail at all GVDA activities. The GVDA may expel, suspend, or place on probation any member who creates discord, behaves in a belligerent or defamatory manner or engages in conduct prejudicial to the welfare and image of the GVDA and the sport of darts.
2) Attempts to distract a player at the oche are prohibited.
3) Opposing team members must stand at least 2 feet behind a player at the oche.
4) Captains must remove any distractions and remedy any problems of which they are advised as fully as possible. Captains will be held responsible for the conduct of their team members.

Fall Season Begins!

 The schedule for the new season is now up. A couple notes about the season:

We are keeping in place our provisions introduced last year for navigating any unexpected COVID impact. There is a makeup week built in to the schedule at the end of regular home and away play to help teams play matches that have to be rescheduled.

To help prevent matches being rescheduled in the first place, in such exceptional circumstances we have a special provision in place so that a team may complete a night with 3 players. As before the extra player required in the doubles 501, doubles 301 (2nd doubles cork's choice in metro) and singles cork's choice games will be decided by players splashing - however once a player has been selected for an extra game in this manner they can not play any more extra matches. Hopefully that is clear but here are the specific scenarios (and stay with me here!):

• Prior to Doubles 501: The two players that played the doubles cricket will splash, with the higher score playing doubles 501 with the 3rd player.
• Prior to Doubles 301/2nd Doubles Cork's Choice:

1. If the player that won the first splash (for doubles 501) played in the doubles cork's choice (1st one in metro), the other cork's choice doubles player will play in the doubles 301 / 2nd doubles cork's choice and the remaining player will play the singles cork's choice game.
2. If the player that won the first splash (for doubles 501) did not play in the doubles cork's choice, then the two players who have not yet played an extra match will splash again, with the higher scoring player playing the doubles 301 and the lower scoring player playing the single cork's choice game.

Simply put, each player will play 4 times in non-metro (in metro the 401 doubles match is considered separate as always).

Splashing rules:

    *  Hold 2 darts in one hand and throw at the board at the same time

    *  Both must count or you will need to re-throw

Fall Season

The Registration Form for the 2022 Fall season is now available. Signups and blind draw are on August 30th at Sunset Lanes. The season will start on September 6th with Finals on December 13th followed by our traditional Open Holiday Tournament on December 20th.

May Day Blind Draw is TONIGHT!!

 The May Day Blind draw is tonight at Sunset Lanes - 6:45pm signup with a 7:30 pm start.

Open to ALL darters - $5 entry for GVDA members; $10 for all others. 100% payout PLUS $100 added in by the GVA AND we have a mystery donor putting in $5 for every entry as well. 

Will also have the Mystery Out happening - pot starts at $69. $2 per play (3 darts) at a randomly selected number.

VOLUNTEERS FOR THE SET-UP/TEAR DOWN AT THE DDRO

We are looking for a few volunteers to help with set up and tear down for this event. Set-up is Friday the 22nd at 11 am and tear down is Sunday the 24th at 11 am.

ADO MAster local qualifier results

 What a great turnout of the first ADO local qualifier since 2020!!

We had 11 shooters split into 2 groups. The top 2 from each group made the final round robin bracket. The final 4 were Daniel Kane , Matt Coyle , Mark McFadden and Michael Nguyen .

The top 2 advancing to the Regional on April 9th are Dan Kane Jr. and Data!!

ADO Masters Local Qualifier

 The first of the ADO local qualifiers is scheduled!

Sunday March 13th at Sunset Lanes! Sign-in at noon and play starts at 12:30. Open to all GVDA members in good standing.

This is a FREE qualifier. The top point winner will get their entry fee paid for to the Regional tournament to be held April 9th at Sunset Lanes. Round Robin - all 501 - play all 3 legs. 

Not on a team or already a general member? No problem! Join the GVDA as a general member for $30. This will make you eligible for all the ADO qualifiers as well as the sign-up and midseason tournaments. Get in touch with one of the board members!

Winter Season Blind Draw Results and Winter Season Schedule

The winter season schedule is up!

Per the current NYS mandate a tavern may require people to wear a mask and/or show proof of vaccination for COVID19. It is up to the captains or captains designee to find out what the requirement is and comply.

We understand this may cause potential issues with a team not having enough players resulting in some matches having to be forfeited. We want to try and avoid forfeits so for the Winter Season only if you only have 3 players you can still play the full match! For the two doubles matches the two people who have already played will splash; the person with the highest score will play. For the last singles match, all three players will splash and the one with the highest score will play.

 Splashing rules:

    *  Hold 2 darts in one hand and throw at the board at the same time

    *  Both must count or you will need to re-throw

We also built in a make-up week to the schedule to give teams a chance to schedule a make-up match on our regular dart night.
