ADO WINMAU MASTERS QUALIFIER - local only

First local FREE qualifier of 2016!!

Winmau Masters qualifier will be held on February 13, 2016 at Sunset Lanes. Sign-in at 11:00 am with play starting at 11:30.

This is a FREE qualifier for GVDA members in good standing. 2016 membership dues must be paid on or before this date to be eligible to play. Dues ($30/player) are due at the Winter sign-up to be held January 5, 2016 at Sunset Lanes. If you won't be at sign-up please get me your dues on or before this qualifier! Not on a team? No problem..become a general member for $30 and be eligible for all the ADO qualifiers, mid-season and sign-up tournaments!!

All 501. Round Robin format. If over 12 participants we will have 2 brackets with the top 3 from each going onto a final round robin bracket.

Winner advances to the Regional to be held in Syracuse at the PACC on March 12, 2016.

Hoping to have a separate women's bracket as well!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone there and having Rochester represented at the Regional!!

Amy DeBruyne represents GVDA in Ladies DPNY 2015 Finals

On Saturday 12/5 Amy DeBruyne competed in the finals of the 2015 Dart Players of New York (DPNY) series held at Behan's Pub in the Bronx, NY.  The DPNY series brings together the top players in the NY/NJ area.  Amy joined the Ladies series this year competing in 4 of the 6 events held in and around NYC.  She represented herself and the GVDA well with her performances including a win in #6 earning the 6th overall seed for the finals.  Amy was in fine form for the finals. She lost in the quarterfinals to eventual runner-up Robin Curry in a hard fought match which saw Amy throw some excellent darts including a double bull checkout, a 109 checkout and the only T80 of the Ladies finals.  Congratulations Amy! 

Kenny Wade

We are very sad to report the passing of Kenny Wade. As with everything in his life, he had a colorful history with the GVDA serving as a director on the board, an enthusiastic player and supporter off the board, official photographer and ultimately back on the board of directors right up until his darts were prematurely forced into retirement. Our condolences to all his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday 11/12/15 at Bethel Christian Fellowship, 321 East Ave., Rochester, 6pm-8pm

It's that time of year again! We are looking for nominations for the board of directors to help with the running of the league. The only eligibility requirement is to be a current GVDA member in good standing.

We are looking for people who are interested in taking an active and committed role in promoting darts in the area and the running of the league. If you are interested and have questions, use the contact form on the website to submit questions under General/Membership.

As always you can use the schedule generator to show you your team's matches for the entire season, or use the quick view link each week to display the upcoming week's matches. RESULTS FROM US TEAM ADO QUALIFIER

We had 10 shooters for the US Team ADO Qualifier yesterday!! Thank you for participating!!! Players chipped in extra $ so we could send 2 to the Regional!

We had 2 brackets with the top 3 from each moving onto another round robin bracket.

Bracket 1 results:  Robert Stewart - 12

Bracket 2 results:  Andy Joss - 9
                              Dale LaFrance - 8

In the final bracket Robert was the winner with 13 wins!! Andy and Scott tied at 10 and Andy won the tie breaker! Great shooting to everyone!

Robert and Andy advance to Regional/National event on August 29th at the PACC in Syracuse!!

NEW THIS SEASON
(Captains/Team Representative is REQUIRED  at signup on August 25th)

Tavern fees are now $60 for the season. We will be operating a board replacement program whereby each tavern receives high quality boards to ensure the best board quality for league play.




The bottom division only will be changing the format of 301 and 501 games:

We are going to experiment with a new format for the Fall season for the lowest division only.  The changes are to 501 and 301 games (both singles and doubles, and wherever played in a cork’s choice event).

501. Traditional Open/Single In, Double Out (OIDO/SIDO), this will now be Open/Single In, Open/Single Out (OIOO/SISO). To win the leg, a player must score the exact score remaining and can end on a single, double or triple. However, if a player scores more than the remaining amount left in their turn, the player is bust and no score shall count for the round.

301. Traditional Double In, Double Out (DIDO), this will now be Open/Single In, Double Out (OIDO/SIDO). Players no longer need to get a double to start reducing their score from 301. However they are still required to score a double to end the leg.

Online scoring system testing

After a successful summer season pilot, we are looking to beta test the online scoring system using the GVDA website. It is possible that we will move fully online but for now we would like you to submit scores using both methods.

IMPORTANT: Until notified otherwise, after each match you MUST CALL IN YOUR SCORE as per the current STANDARD process . STANDARD process is to call one of the voicemail lines (461-9240 or 461-9290) before 7pm on the following day (Wednesday). If you fail to call in your score, you will not be credited for any points for the week unless your opponents for the week do manage to call in a valid score. Feedback about the online system is highly encouraged.

Registration

To be given access privileges to the scoring system, you must first be a registered user. To register as a user, go the www.thegvda.org and follow links to ‘Log In’ (Top right) and then ‘Register here’.

You will be prompted to enter an email address. This will be used to recover forgotten passwords and receive proof of score submission emails so it is essential that a correct email is entered. Choose a username and password that you will use to log into the system.

Once you have been assigned access rights to a particular team you will be notified and will notice additional links available to you in the secure section when logged in.

Score Submission

Follow the ‘Log your score’ link. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays this page will allow you to enter scores for the week. Use the dropdown to select 0-8 (or 10 in Metro) or Win by Forfeit (making sure you call the hotline first for authorization). Add any notables in the space provided and submit the form. You will be sent a confirmation email and can also review your score submissions as stored in the system.

Timing

The score submission page is only active on Tuesday and Wednesday. Scores can be submitted up until 7pm on Wednesday, after which only notables can be submitted.

We still have an opening available for a team to play this season - let us know if you want to play ASAP!

Event #2 for the Invictus series is coming up fast (see flyer above)!!! Spots are filling up so regiser now!!

$20 to play a long format, singles 501 event. Top 2 will move onto the finals in December. Pre-registration and payment are due before the event. Please see Amy DeBruyne to register for this event!

I will also be taking registration for Invictus event #4 to be held at Sunset Lanes on September 19th (see flyer below).

ADO Qualifier winners AND Summer Sign Up

ADO All Star Qualifier results:

We had 7 people for the ADO All Star Qualifier this past Sunday. Thank you to Mike Toole and Stacy Bradly who were new to this event! Dale LaFrance was he top finishing male and will advance to the Regional on June 7th. Amy DeBruyne was the top finishing female, but she already has a berth to a Regional (if there is ever enough woman to hold one) so Stacy Bradly will be going as well.

Stacy also had the only 180 scored for the day!!!! :)

Summer Sign-up and Tournament:

Sign-up for the summer season is Tuesday May 26th at McGinnity's. There is also a tournament for all GVDA members in good standing. Sign-up begins at 7 for both league and the tournament. Tournament will begin at 7:30. $5 entry with 100% payback plus $240. Single or double elimination determined by turn out.

4-man Steel Tip Tournament

Daniel Inman​ has planned a 4-man team steel tip event for Sunday June 14th at the PACC in Syracuse. It will be a combination of cricket an '01. final format and payouts coming soon. The 4-man team must be current members of the GVDA. $100 per team. If anyone is interested in putting a team together let me know.

AGM and Winter 2015 signup

Winter 2015 season signup and the Annual General Meeting of the GVDA will be taking place on Tuesday January 13th at Sunset Lanes, starting at 7pm.

Anybody interested in throwing steel tip darts is encouraged to attend to meet other league members, sign up or renew membership. We will be holding the usual blind draw tournament (100% of the $5 entry fees plus $240+  will be paid out to the top 4+ teams, depending on turnout).

To register a team for the season you'll need to bring a completed registration form or fill one out on the night. Please note that the sheet should be filled out as much as possible and at the very least full contact details for the captain is needed so that we can contact you quickly about any league issues that come up during the season. Please do not just write "same as last season" - thanks!!

Eligible voting members (current captains and board directors) should also attend to fill out the election ballots.
