Due to very low turnout the last few years we will not be hosting a picnic for the league this summer. It is not really worth the effort and expense when only ~25 people show up.
We have been searching for alternatives some time and a few good ideas have come in. If you have any ideas for an event we could use to replace the picnic, please let us know.
We will have a survey out soon with a selection of options and a write in so that all members have a way to let us know how they like the various ideas.

Report From Our NWDS Participant
We hosted a NWDS Hometown event to send someone to the beg event in Vegas.
That person was Howard M, and he sent a report of his experience:
That person was Howard M, and he sent a report of his experience:
Fantastic tournament! LOTS of darts. Very tiring! Very, very tough field indeed!
I barely missed the cut but I think I had a tough bracket. Timmy Nicoll said that I was actually ahead of him going into the last 2 rounds but he finished strong since his last two opponents had pretty much given up by then. Allen Nutter was the wild card in our group, excellent player and he shot very well. I only made top 16 in the consolation and wasn't very happy with that. Should have done better.
Overall it was a great trip and I'm so glad I went. Had a great time and definately learned a lot. Thanks again for hosting the hometown event for us. It's a great way to get players out to these big events. Only way to learn!
Cheers,
-Howard

Website and Social Media Update
Hello everyone!
Many of you have noticed the new web site and blog, and we have received some good feedback on the new site design. I wanted to take a minute to update everyone on what we've been up to.New website design
The GVDA web remains the authoritative source for all official league information.- The new site is designed to be fast and look good on all systems, including mobile devices.
- The work is not 100% complete yet, but we have come a long way in a short time.
- Ed Day has put a lot of effort into creating a new web site design, and I wanted to give him a public thanks. Thanks Ed!
- Please direct any compliments or feedback on the new site design to Ed.
GVDA News
The GVDA News section on the homepage replaces the updates that were formerly located on the scoresheet or at the top of the homepage.- You can subscribe via email to the posts from this blog through the widget on the GVDA homepage, or use the widget on the blog itself to subscribe via a news reader.
- We chose to use Blogger for our news delivery because it allows us a great deal of flexibility in allowing authors to contribute as well as a enables variety of delivery formats.
Social Media
We have had a Facebook Page for a while now and have been trying to use it more. We also recently established Twitter accounts for the league.- These services are now synced up with the news blog. New posts to the blog should show up on both Twitter and Facebook in approximately 30 minutes.
- Facebook: please like us here: https://www.facebook.com/thegvda
- Facebook: add gvda.darts as a friend: https://www.facebook.com/gvda.darts
- Twitter: https://twitter.com/GvdaDarts
- While there may occasionally be some traffic on Facebook or Twitter that isn't reflected elsewhere, rest assured that all the important stuff is on the site or news blog. (As an example: bracket images and winners during the 2013 Rochester Open were posted, but are not on the site yet.)
